That group of trainees appeared together as Mouseketeers on Disney Channel Korea’s revival of The Mickey Mouse Club in 2015, giving Jaemin early public visibility years before NCT DREAM’s official formation.
Career Highlights
Debut and NCT DREAM’s Formation Jaemin officially debuted as one of the founding members of NCT DREAM on August 24, 2016, with the single “Chewing Gum,” alongside Mark, Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, and Chenle.
The group was originally conceived as a teenage-focused unit with a rotating “graduation” system before being rebranded as a fixed lineup in 2020, allowing Jaemin and his groupmates to continue promoting together into adulthood.
A Rapid Rise As part of NCT DREAM, Jaemin contributed to the group’s remarkable commercial success, including their record-breaking album Glitch Mode, which sold over 2.1 million copies within a single week.
The group was named to Time magazine’s “25 Most Influential Teens” list in 2018 and appeared on Billboard’s “21 Under 21” list for two consecutive years, cementing NCT DREAM’s status as one of the best-selling boy groups in South Korea.
The group made their Japanese debut on February 8, 2023, with the single “Best Friend Ever.”
NCT JNJM In a significant new chapter, Jaemin and fellow member Jeno formed the new sub-unit NCT JNJM, set to debut on February 23, 2026, with the EP Both Sides — giving the pair a dedicated creative outlet distinct from NCT DREAM’s full six-member discography.
A Group Navigating Change NCT DREAM’s lineup shifted in April 2026 when fellow member Mark departed both the sub-unit and SM Entertainment entirely.
Leaving Jaemin and the group’s remaining members — Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Chenle, and Jisung — to continue forward together as a six-member act, even as Jaemin and Jeno simultaneously built out their new duo project.
Personality and Public Image
Jaemin is widely known for his handsome visuals, expressive eyes, and gentle, easygoing demeanor, qualities that have made him a fan favorite since NCT DREAM’s earliest days.
His years of prior training and broadcasting experience, including his time as a Disney Channel Korea Mouseketeer, gave him a level of camera comfort and stage presence uncommon for someone who debuted as a young teenager.
Fans and fellow members alike describe him as a multi-talented, versatile presence who continues to shine across NCT DREAM’s evolving discography.
That gentle, easygoing quality has also made him a natural fit for NCT DREAM’s warmer, more youthful concept era releases, where his expressive delivery and genuine on-camera comfort consistently stand out.
